Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy

Anatomy is a basic science in medical field including the structure of the human body from ultrastructure to macrosopic levels. In medical teaching, we cover gross human anatomy, neuroanatomy human development and histology by lectures and practices. Along with this, our major research contains neuroscience; neuroendocrinology and neurobiology.

Our research projects aim the understanding of the mechanism of emotional and learning behaviors of the animal. These behaviors are thought to related to estrogen, the sex steroid, therefore we analyzed the distribution of estrogen receptor. Anxiety behavior varies with the development, especially in puberty. Sympathy and bond in animals are also studied in our laboratory using prairie vole, which shows monogamy.
Other research projects contain the mechanism of depressive state, and image analysis of interactions of bio-molecules using fluorescence.
