At Kochi University, there are two types of international student status; one is regular students aiming to obtain degree, the other is non-regular students not aiming to obtain degree.

Regular Students
- Undergraduates
- International applicant can be enrolled as “Undergraduate” student by passing the entrance exam for undergraduate first-year admissions. For further information such as application guidebook, please check the URL below.
- Postgraduates
- At Kochi University, each major in graduate school holds entrance exam for applicants and the applicants can be enrolled as “Postgraduate” student by passing the exam. Studies in Medical Science and Studies in Nursing Science are operated as master’s course and Studies in Medicine is operated as doctoral course at Kochi Medical School. Non-regular Students
- Short-term International Students
- At Kochi Medical School, we accept some international students as “Short-term International Students” who participate in not only short-term exchange program with international partners but also clinical observation with arrangement schedule within 1-8 weeks. - Research Students
- At Kochi University, we have system to accept some students as “Research Students” who are non-regular students intending to research specific subject, but not aiming to obtain degree. - Special Auditing/Research Students
- At Kochi University, we accept some students from international partners as “Special Auditing/Research Students” and such students may study for six months or one year. - Auditors
- At Kochi University, “Auditors” can take one or more courses offered in undergraduate or postgraduate courses in accordance with registration. “Auditors” may receive course credits and the credits may be converted to degree credits, once being subsequently admitted as regular student either at Kochi University or another university.
