KIOST Award
- I would like to congratulate all of the young scientists, the future leaders in ocean science, for winning the KIOST Award on the first day of the new era of KIOST.
- From the First of July, KORDI has changed its name to KIOST and takes the new step towards to be the world class ocean research institution by achieving the qualified outcomes from the research and education. From now on, KIOST will foster outstanding human resources and passionately work together with other related industries, academia, and institutes to grow together (http://www.kiost.ac/kordi_web/main/main.jsp).
- In addition, hopes for the biotechnology and the oceans are growing bigger under the present circumstances of the environmental pollution and depletion of natural resources. I sincerely hope that all of you will pay attention to this issue and seek answers through the marine biotechnology.
- I hope that this award will encourage all young scientists to find new paths in the field of oceanography and open the era of the oceans in the twenty-first century. I believe that the outstanding research outcomes will contribute towards the advancement of ocean science. I would like to congratulate all of you once again.
Best Student Poster Award
- This award will be given to principal presenters who are student. The candidates are required to register first and give
poster presentation at APMBC2012.
- The awardees will be selected based on the scientific merits of their papers as well as their presentation performance.
- The awards winners will be announced at the Closing Remarks (July 16, 2012) and receive a Certificate and Cash Prize of 50,000 JPY.

- The APMBC2012 organizing committee would like to sponsor Travel Awards on a competitive basis to assist students to present papers
/posters relevant to their research programs.
- The purpose of Travel Awards is to encourage the participation of young scientists from developing countries.

Then, submit it to the Secretariat of the 9th APMBC by e-mail.

- The candidates are required to register first and give oral or poster presentation at APMBC2012.The awardees will be selected based on the scientific merits of their papers as well as their presentation performance. A certain degree of geographic balance may be additionally considered by the organizing committee, so as to maintain the international nature of this symposium.
- The awards winners will be announced at the
Conference Banquet (July 15, 2012) Closing Remarks (July 16, 2012) and receive a reimbursement of a round airfare up to 50,000 JPY in cash to cover a part of his/her travel expenses.
